In the Spring of 2011, Todd and Alex dreamed up the idea of WayForward Adventures. They wanted to create a first class experience that took adults into the mountains for a week of self-discovery with a group of their friends, for the sole purpose that they would return home and live out more effectively who God created them to be.



Todd Pinkston - President and Founder

Todd brings 10 years of experience in adventure ministry. Beginning in 2005, he has served as guide, Base Camp Coordinator and Speaker/Trainer for Young Life's Wilderness Ranch. He has a Masters in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He brings 12 years of ministry experience, most recently as the Area Director for YL in Richardson, Texas. Todd is married to Erin and they have a daughter, Hadley, and a son, Tripp. In the off season, Todd speaks at churches, retreats and trains leaders on maximizing their impact.

KATY COONEY - executive assisant


Katy began with WayForward Adventures in Summer 2016 volunteering and now is on staff handling all administration and customer service coordination along with guiding. She brings seven years of ministry experience to the team with two of those years working as the Volunteer Coordinator for a non-profit in Bryan, TX called Still Creek Ranch. She graduated from Texas A&M in December 2014 with a degree in Psychology. 

Grayson Bingham - Operations Manager


Grayson was part of the 2017-2018 WayForward Adventures Fellowship Program, and now works on staff as the Operations Manager. He brings four years of ministry experience including spending the summer of 2016 working as an intern for Nido del Aguila Children's Home in Sololá, Guatemala. Grayson is a Dallas, Texas native and graduated from Texas A&M University in May of 2017 with a degree in Allied Health.   

Seth keinath - base camp coordinator

Seth served in the WayForward Fellowship Program from 2018-2019, and came on part time staff with WayForward in September 2019 as our Base Camp Coordinator. Seth brings over 5 years of ministry experience to the team, as well as a degree in Hospitality Management from Grand Valley State University. Seth is a Michigan native which is where he currently resides. He is to be married in October 2019 and looks forward to serving the Lord through his marriage and WayForward.

jon Matthews

Jon, an Austin native, began working for WayForward Adventures in August of 2019. He has worked as a backpacking and rock climbing guide for another outfitter and he is excited to bring his 5 years of ministry experience to WayForward. He graduated from Texas A&M in 2019 with a degree in Agricultural Economics.


Nick Howard

Nick began working with WayForward in May of 2019. He served two years as a backpacking guide at Sky Ranch Ute Trail in southern Colorado. He brings five years of ministry experience including two years as a team leader at Breakaway Ministries in College Station. He graduated from Texas A&M in December 2019 with a degree in Industrial Distribution and a minor in business.

With over 20 years of combined ministry experience, the Pinkstons are excited to spend their summers in the mountains and see God work on the trail through WayForward trips.

Alex & Christyn Knoop

Alex brings more than 11 years of experience in adventure ministry. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Texas and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the Acton School of Business. Alex has a passion for developing young adults into disciples that understand how to live out their faith in the workplace. Alex is married to Christyn and they have two daughters, Emily and Julia. 


Bill & Becky Strahan

After selling their software company in 2013, Bill & Becky were looking to create an organization that would have lasting impact on people's lives. Bill went on a backpacking trip with Alex & Todd that summer and after sharing his experience with Becky, she replied..."we should do this!" They started WayForward Adventures in the fall of 2013.
