Jon started his adventures in the backcountry and working with people in adventure situations in 1998 in Michigan where he worked at a camp facilitating team building groups and operating high and low ropes courses. Afterwards he spent a few years working for Wilderness Ranch guiding high school students in the the backcountry. After that he was difficult to pin down at any one thing. He has lead trips down into the Chihuahau Desert on horseback, into the Boundary Waters and southern Canada in canoes, sailing in the Bahamas and just about everything in between. He has logged over 100 different trips and spent more than 1000 nights out under the stars.
In addition to backcountry trips, he has also served as an EMT, dog trainer, hunting guide, welder and is currently living in Austin and teaching science at a title I high school. On the side, he runs a small urban farm with everything from milk goats to bees.
